VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING MALAWI
It is the responsibility of the applicant to verify VISA particulars before travelling. Applicants are advised to submit their completed application forms well in advance of their proposed date of departure. VISAS are valid ONLY from the date of issue and stated period. Applicants may be requested to submit additional supporting documentation.
The Malawi Embassy in Beijing issues visa valid for only 3 months upon payment of RMB800.00.
Visa applicants should submit the following documents for visa application:

Either: A letter of invitation if going to Malawi for business or a visit. Where applicable, the Embassy requires that the invitation letter should be accompanied by a copy of the inviter's first page of passport and Business Residence Permit (B.R.P)
Or: A letter of dispatch in cases where a person has been sent by an institution to carry out a specific assignment in Malawi
Or: A bank statement covering a period of six months to current date if going on holiday/tourism when there is no one in particular to visit, together with a hotel booking.

A passport that is valid for up 6 months from time of application
Three passport photographs
Two copies of visa application forms to be collected at the Embassy or downloaded by clicking here (after downloading, please print the two pages of the form on one paper, i.e. page 1 on the front and page 2 on the back, and repeat the process to have two forms)
Non-refundable visa processing fee of RMB800.00. Holders of diplomatic passports are exempt from visa fees.

When planning to travel with other people's children under 10 years of age, applicants must present a notary certificate conveying the parents' consent for their children to be accompanied by the persons in question
Operating hours for visa Applications are as follows:
Mondays through Thursdays:
09:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
01:30pm - 03:00 p.m.
(Except on public holidays of either Malawi or China)
Note: Processing of visas will take a minimum of 5 working days
The Embassy issues only single entry visas valid for three months. Applicants wishing to get multiple-entry or extended visa, plus those requiring business residence permit must apply for them while in Malawi at the Immigration Department.
